PACinlaw Content Audit: Sovereign Citizen Myth / Voter Cancellation Letter

These two are quickies. First, we have a press release that is not too dissimilar to the introduction of The Origins of Sovereign Citizens. Second is a form letter to assist one in removing themselves from the voter registry.

I know of no earlier versions.

SOVEREIGN CITIZEN MYTH DANGEROUS TO AMERICA
The People’s Awareness Coalition (PAC), founded in 1998, is issuing a warning to all American patriots who are trying to overcome the system and get out from under liberty limiting regulations and so-called government oppression. Most, if not all, people involved in the so-called sovereign citizen movement may eventually be identified, targeted and suffer consequences as an effect of their desire for remedies that are not grounded in law.

Groups of “Tax Deniers,” “Sovereign Citizens,” “Straw Man” advocates, “Redemption” followers, and others pursuing many other unlawful and half-baked “freedom” remedies, all have one thing in common… These schemes are based on half truths, twisted law and fairy tales. Individuals and their continued pursuit in these areas will serve to further embolden a Federal Government intent upon suppressing the liberty movement altogether. Continued expansion of Federal power is dangerous for America and dangerous for all Americans.

According to PAC founder and author of The Red Amendment, LB Bork, “The individual man and woman are not sovereigns. The principle in America has always been that the state is sovereign via the people. Most of these people in the “freedom movement” are either ignorant and uninformed and are being taken by scam artists, or, their law research is flawed and incomplete.”

“As more Americans suffer loss of jobs, homes, and possessions and an erosion of individual freedoms, desperation will cause accelerated irrational behavior. Desperate Americans must be leery of scam artists and con men trying to sell sovereignty schemes promoting in effect legal gibberish and almost certain problems down the road,” continued Mr. Bork. “There is a right way to address this and there is a wrong way. PAC was formed to provide constitutional instruction and political insights and promotes the lawful remedy for State sovereignty.”

“For the record, the People's Awareness Coalition does not advocate the so-called “sovereign citizen” position or the multitude of its schemes,” added Mr. Bork. “We at the Coalition advocate and provide a path for individual’s peaceful, non- aggressive, non-participation in the current political systems.”

A N A L Y S I S
As previously mentioned, this isn't too different from The Origins of Sovereign Citizens. Same emotional appeals are made, and his claims are still false.

Now onto Voter Cancellation Letter.

LETTER FOR TERMINATION OF VOTER REGISTRATION, i.e. WITHDRAW OF PARTICIPATION IN REBELLING AGAINST THE REPUBLIC.

[State/County] Department of Elections Registered Mail # : 0 000 000 000
Attn: [Head of Department]
[Address]
[City], [State] [zip]
month/day/year

Greetings [Head of Department], Served Party:
It has come to my startling attention that participating in elections generates a person to commit a crime pursuant to Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Such crime is perceived to be an act of treason, which is based on the breach of political allegiance to my (or a lawful) state government (emphasis added) that would have existed prior to said amendment.

As such operation of law is–simply put–unconscionable, I hereby formally and expressly DEMAND that my name, as it appears herein presented, or any variation thereof, be removed from the voter registration roles forthwith and cancelled ab initio (emphasis added).

I would very much appreciate a response from your department within thirty (30) days of your receiving this claim and demand which: 1) Certifies the expungement of such registration and the manner in which it was executed (emphasis added); 2) Explains why this department has acted in bad faith inasmuch as it failed to advise me that it was involving me in such an artifice and scheme.

If I do not hear from you in the time specified, by your silence it will be deemed that you are a knowing party to this artifice/scheme and my injuries will be figured accordingly. And the failure to certify1 that such legal hypothesis is not correct will deem it to be true and factual.

I am greatly anticipating your full cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,
[Name (as registered)]

1 The term “certify” means that the “Served Party” has to provide a sworn statement to include the following: 1) That the United States–and the State of [state]–has disclosed in good faith that the government of [state] is not a lawful government under the doctrines of international law nor the original U.S. Constitution; 2) That the State of [state] is in fact a quasi-political subdivision of the United States; 3) That every American that participates in any election is deemed a citizen of the United States–i.e., U.S. person or federal citizen; 4) That any such American (participating in elections) is a subject of Congress and/or the United States.

There are all kinds of ways to get off the voter rolls. Whether or not this letter will work is subject to debate, as different states have different rules regarding voter cancellation. In some states, like California, one can cancel their voter registration by contacting their County Elections Office. Whether or not a letter like this one would do it, I'm not sure. Perhaps a phone call first would clear things up, or maybe they need to see you in person before taking such an action like unregistering seriously.

Oklahoma, on the other hand, appears to be a friendlier state for the survivalist/religiously disabled, and has their own form for voter cancellation form. The form letter probably will work, assuming that it doesn't get lost in the paperwork, or get tossed because it breaks procedure.

In RJ's case, Massachusetts doesn't seem to allow voter cancellation. One can change parties, or be undecided, but that's it. I doubt that this letter would work, but it's worth the try. On the other hand, I hear that not responding to state and city censuses is a way to get off the rolls - but don't take my word for it.

To anyone out there who is serious about getting themselves off of the voter rolls, check up with your state for more details. I can't stop you -- even though this doesn't do much of anything, nor change your obligation to pay taxes. However, take my advice: write your own letter, and be kind. This letter is too aggressive and too crazy for anyone to take seriously, and might just get tossed because of it.
